"and the men who most of the time would better serve the real investing public by being totally silent."

Ah, wish I had seen that. I've had Ballantyne of Omaha (BTN) in my portfolio for a couple of years. They are the leading provider of film projectors in the industry. The stock hasn't done a thing for me, but I'm holding out for a while, as they recently nailed a big contract for their equipment. I'm hoping for some good earnings report s in the next few quarters.

I expect these digital projectors might render BTN a great short some day, although I don't think digital projection is quite ready for prime time. The costs of ripping out the old system for the new will be huge. The digital projectors are much more expensive. So much so, that the studios will have to bear much or all of the costs of converting theaters to the new system. Then there will be the inevitable fighting over how the whole system will work and who will make the money and who will be out of business. They talk of having a few of these digital theaters ready in 2 or 3 years, but I think it'll be a lot longer before it comes to your local theater.
