Hi Rangle I thought this was an interesting article. Call me a dreamer but I could see the next article say "And all this by Voice" Please note the quote form Neil Clemmons in the second to last paragraph. Thursday March 11, 12:01 am Eastern Time 3Com and Microsoft to develop networking products PALO ALTO, Calif., March 11 (Reuters) - 3Com Corp (Nasdaq:COMS - news), a leading maker of computer networking equipment, plans to join forces with Microsoft Corp (Nasdaq:MSFT - news) to develop a line of home networking products to make it easier for consumers to connect their computers to the Internet and set up multiple computers to share the same printer or Internet connection. The companies, which will announce the agreement Thursday, say home networking is an area of explosive growth as more and more households acquire a second, or third PC. They said their new products will include software that automatically configures computers without complicated instructions or technical jargon. ''Given the trend toward multiple PCs in homes and the growth of broadband Internet access, we anticipate tremendous growth in the home networking arena this year,'' said Rick Thompson, vice president of the hardware group at Microsoft. ''The products we are building with 3Com let consumers get the most out of their PCs with little effort or technical savy required.'' With a single connection to the Internet, two or more family members can simultaneously surf the Web, send e-mail, and share online files. ''Our feeling is that networking in the home can open a whole new range of applications that we haven't even thought of,'' said Neil Clemmons, a 3Com vice president. DataQuest recently projected that the home networking industry, fueled by the popularity of the Internet and falling PC prices, will be a $2 billion-a-year market by 2002. Straight Up
