RADVision Announces its Next Generation NT Gatekeeper, the NGK-100, for Production IP-based Multimedia Networks
Designed to Work with RADVision's OnLAN Family of Hardware Building Blocks Including the L2W-323P PRI Gateway, the L2W-323B BRI Gateway, and the MCU-323 Multipoint Conferencing Unit
MAHWAH, N.J., March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- RADVision, Inc., the recognized global H.323 market and technology leader, announced today at MultiMediaCom in San Jose, C.A., the addition of the new RADVision NGK-100 NT Gatekeeper to their suite of H.323 building blocks. The NGK-100 is designed for production IP-based multimedia networks and is available as a complementary product to RADVision's OnLAN family of building blocks including the L2W-323P PRI Gateway, L2W-323 BRI Gateway, and the MCU-323 Multipoint Conferencing Unit. Current users of RADVision's L2W-323 BRI Gateway and MCU-323 Multipoint Conferencing Unit may purchase the NGK-100 for added functionality and performance.

The RADVision NGK-100 Gatekeeper is a simple to use, H.323 Version 2-compliant software product that is essential in IP telephony and multimedia networks. It provides the functionality of RADVision's built-in GK-323 Gatekeeper with vastly improved performance and full support of the H.323 Version 2 standard. The NGK-100 runs on Windows NT(TM) and gives network managers the power to define, control, optimize and manage multimedia conferencing and Voice over IP (VoIP) calls -- it lets managers control network resources (bandwidth) and policies to ensure optimal implementation of real-time audio, visual and data conferencing over IP networks. It supports 60 calls and 300 registrations. It is very flexible and scalable to continue to meet the changing needs in a continuously expanding networking environment.

The NGK-100 includes unique built-in multimedia IVR (Interactive Voice Response) capabilities. When working together with RADVision gateways, users see a still video picture along with a voice response message. Both the video image and message are customizable.

Other value-added, advanced capabilities that significantly improve network management include:

-- "Neighbor gatekeeper" lists for optimized inter-gatekeeper
communication
-- Topology island functionality for efficient routing inside each subnet
-- Extended supplementary services for line and terminal group HUNTING
-- Inter-zone security mechanism to control calling activity among
enterprise network zones using PBX-like prefix dialing
-- Support for non-RAS endpoints

RADVision Gatekeeper NGK-100

RADVision's President Michelle Blank said, ''The gatekeeper is a key system component that can simplify the management of complex multimedia networks. Currently it is the critical ingredient needed to control diverse H.323 components. In the near future it will evolve as the vehicle for extending H.323 for SS7 integration and internetworking with other emerging protocols like MGCP. With the introduction of our next generation Windows NT-based gatekeeper, we have simplified the integration of our own family of internetworking products and taken the first step towards providing a migration path for broader end-to-end interoperability.''

RADVision will be exhibiting the NGK-100 together with the L2W-323P PRI Gateway, L2W-323B BRI Gateway, MCU-323 Multipoint Conferencing Unit and VIU-323 Video Interface Unit, as well as its H.323 Version 2-compliant Protocol Stack and GK-323 Gatekeeper software at MultiMediaCom, Booth 315, San Jose, CA, 8-11 March, and at CeBIT '99, Hall 15, Stand C29, Hanover, Germany, 18-24 March.

About RADVision

RADVision is the recognized global technology and market leader in the H.323 multimedia communications industry. Since its inception in 1993, RADVision has been driving the standards for interoperable solutions by developing trend-setting hardware and software ''building blocks'' for multimedia communications and networks. The company was first-to-market with multimedia communications solutions for voice/video/data conferencing between desktop computers and room-based systems over Internet Protocol (IP) and circuit switched networks. The company was also first-to-market with a standalone gatekeeper application in 1997. The company is an active participant of the ITU-T Experts Group and has played a key role in the formulation of the H.323 standard.
