I think even if they push it as fast as they can, it will take a long time. I still haven't seen HD TV. I still record programs on a vcr, with its lousy image quality. Where's all the cool technology? I know it's coming, but it always seems to come a lot slower than they say it will. With digital projectors costing about $100,000, the price tag for equipping theaters in one state, let alone the country or the world, would be monumental. I guess they could give Jim Carrey a pay cut; make it up that way. I'm just not holding my breath.
