PGE had numerous violations from NRC and the electorate were knocking on the door to close it down through the ballot box...

So PGe shut it down before the election, then when the initiative to close it down failed, they shut it down voluntarily so they could stick the ratepayers with the de-commisioning bill.

Hydroelectric is a base supplier of power in the region, with coal picking up the lion's share. Also, there are a growing presence of gas-fired units coming on line.

If you hear me tell the story, the hydro dams are next to be eliminated. It will take time, but it did take 20 years to close Trojan.

There was never a power shortage in the region to begin with. Conservation has helped, but what is saved in the home is burned in the SUV!
