Ames completes Hills Stores merger Monday March 22, 11:43 am Eastern Time ROCKY HILL., Conn., March 22 (Reuters) - Discount retailer Ames Department Stores Inc. said that it has completed its purchase of Hills Stores Co (NYSE:HDS - news). The acquisition is valued at $330 million in cash and assumed debt, Ames said in a statement. Ames has 300 Ames stores and 153 newly acquired Hills stores in 19 states. The combined companies have annual revenues of $4 billion.
