Those who think the Cold War was bogus can come up with no motivation for our support of various dubious characters except our imperialistic impulses. Those who refuse to accept that there is a threat from the Arab world will do the same. The oil issue, as I pointed out earlier, is no small matter if Saddam is a burgeoning Hitler. We did not have the luxury of waiting to find out if the move on Kuwait was trivial or not, since the rest of the Arabian peninsula was unable to defend itself.
When Hitler annexed Danzig, which is now the Polish city of Gdansk, and which had been internationalized under the League of Nations, Chamberlain made a remark about not shedding a drop of blood for Danzig. When Hitler reoccupied the Rhineland, according to William Shirer (a correspondent in Berlin at the time, with high ranking contacts), the Germans were unprepared to fight, and would have pulled back when challenged, but they were not. When Hitler swallowed up the rest of Czechoslovakia after having been awarded the Sudetenland, there were mere diplomatic protests. All of this emboldened Hitler to become more adventurous, convinced him of Western decadence, and provided him with more resources for the looming war effort. Can anyone blame policy makers for being desperate not to make the same mistakes as were made by the democracies in the run up to WWII?

<<<It seems that you'll excuse everyone but the USA from any culpability for the evil
that occurs in this world.>>>

Not true .... The point for me is that to hear it from the Media , The USA does no wrong and that everything is founded on freedom , democracy and good intentions... This is patently not true and in most cases,is exactly the opposite to the truth.

I sincerely wish that it was, but I cannot BS myself nor can I swallow the deluge of crap that is fed to us on a regular basis....

I don't know how to say this exactly, but I enjoy and quite like most Americans that I read or converse with, however my opinion is that most are mislead as to the deeds of their more covert agencies...
I have read a couple of books by American Authors -- Noam Chomsky, and William Blum----
These books are quite disturbing to read for the insight that they afford into real American Foreign Policy...

None the less the accuracy of them seems undeniable and when many world situations are viewed from the angle presented by them, a lot more sense seems to spring forth as opposed to the excuses offered up by CNN, or politicians....

Again , I wish this were not true....It feels lonely and not good noticing the lack of clothing on the emperor much less mentioning it...In fact , I wish I could make it go out of my head....

I do not enjoy being attacked for stating what I see as facts.. I am not attacking anyone here but am constantly being attacked, not refuted...hmmmmmm

Maybe if I just go away, Yeah, maybe that'll change everything, Yeah

Yes, I know--- Lots of messengers have been killed....<g>
