Peppe --

Let's give them a couple days. Surely they won't pass up a chance to put their name on the marquis with Bell Nexxia.

Not so incidentally, I'm hearing some great reports on Sanjiv Chahil, the new EVP Marketing.

Later ---

Pat

Peppe --

You're right. Of the three companies involved, NT and CSCO have both brought out press and NN hasn't.

Series of releases, first from Bell Nexxia announcing its plans:

Bell Nexxia To Launch Wholesale Internet Access Service
Dow Jones Newswires

TORONTO -- Bell Canada's Bell Nexxia unit said it's launching a wholesale Internet access service for Internet service providers.

In a news release, the company said the high-speed service will be based on Northern Telecom Ltd.'s (NT) 1-Meg Modem asymmetric digital subscriber line technology.

It said pricing for the service, to be commercially available in the summer, is expected to be C$24 a month.

Bell Canada is a unit of BCE Inc. (BCE), Montreal, a telecommunications and holding company.

Nor Tel To Supply Fiber-Optic Equipment To Bell Canada Unit
By BEN DUMMETT
Dow Jones Newswires

TORONTO -- Northern Telecom Ltd. (NT) could generate between C$80 million and C$100 million from the sale of its high-speed fiber-optic equipment for use in Bell Canada's national optical backbone network.

In an interview with Dow Jones, Bill Conner, executive vice-president of marketing at Northern Telecom, said his company now generates a total of about C$800 million a year in revenues from Bell Canada, a unit of telecommunications conglomerate BCE Inc. (BCE).

Northern Telecom and Bell Canada's Bell Nexxia unit, which oversees Bell Canada's offering of high-speed services over the Web for big corporate customers, expect to unveil more details of the network's capacity as early as Thursday. Bell Nexxia first announced plans to build the broadband network to transmit data for businesses last year.

The first phase of the network, which includes a large ring linking Toronto, Winnipeg and Chicago, is completed, with the rest scheduled to be done by April.

Northern Telecom is supplying its OC-192 Gbps sonet and network management products, giving the network capacity to transmit data at super fast speeds of 320 billion bits of data a second, and providing users access to a range of services. These include Web hosting, Web broadcasting, e-commerce and video conferencing, among others.

In addition, the network seamlessly connects with U.S.-based MCI Worldcom Inc.'s (WCOM) global, high-speed network, which also uses Northern Telecom's OC-192 sonet products. Recently, Bell Nexxia and MCI Worldcom announced a marketing pact to service their business customers.

Bell Nexxia, Cisco Form Co-Development Alliance
Dow Jones Newswires

TORONTO -- Bell Nexxia said it has entered into a co-development alliance with Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) to develop an Internet protocol-based, next-generation network for Canada.

In a news release, the company said it will use Cisco networking technology to build an IP network infrastructure. It said the agreement also covers development and marketing of IP-based services, such as virtual private networks, corporate Intranet and extranet solutions with secure remote access and LAN-to-LAN connectivity solutions.

Bell Nexxia said the companies are also cooperating on network management, provisioning and customer care.

Bell Nexxia, an IP-broadband solutions company, is a unit of Bell Canada, itself a unit of BCE Inc. (BCE), Montreal, a telecommunications and holding company.

Cisco Systems, San Jose, makes router, switching equipment and software for computer networks.

Ultra-Capacity Transport Network

Bell Nexxia's SONET/DWDM transport network is based on our coast-to-coast fibre-optic infrastructure. Fibre facilities extend to every major centre in Canada and key metropolitan areas in the United States.

Bell Nexxia has selected Nortel's leading Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) optical transport solution to enable the transmission up to 8 light wavelengths along each fibre strand of our national backbone. Each wavelength operates along an OC-192 SONET transport ring. With eight wavelengths lit, the backbone transport network supports a total capacity of 160 Gigabits per second. This is equivalent to transmitting the contents of 8.4 million pages of text from coast-to-coast in each direction in one second.

A National IP Network

The Internet Protocol (IP) is the common denominator of the networked world. To meet burgeoning IP and Internet service requirements, Bell Nexxia and Cisco Systems formed a unique co-development relationship to build and evolve a next-generation, carrier-class IP network across Canada.

Bell Nexxia's coast-to-coast IP network answers the rapidly growing need for a "business-class Internet." On one hand, it provides corporate customers with the low cost and reach of a public network. On the other, it meets the stringent requirements for security, reliability and guaranteed service levels that are characteristic of a private network designed for the most demanding enterprise applications.

Today, enterprise customers demand robust and cost-effective connectivity in the form of Frame Relay and ATM services to build corporate WANs. Bell Nexxia serves these requirements through its advanced, national ATM/Frame Relay network.

The Bell Nexxia ATM/Frame Relay overlay network relies on the SONET/DWDM transport backbone for inter-switch connectivity, and best-in-class technologies from Newbridge Networks and Nortel Networks, resulting in a reliable, feature-rich infrastructure.

The network's core relies on Newbridge Networks' high capacity backbone switches to perform non-service specific switching functions.

Peppe,
BTW NN has been selling ATM platform to Bell Canada for several years.
Since Bell Nexxia is BC arm, I am not surprise Bell Nexxia has NN ATM gears.

Belive me I am going to find out what CSCO has really install.

Still CSCO own press release is talking only about co-development!!!

Regards
Zbyslaw
