Some crooked stuff has been going on for a very LONG time! Gold has not been going down for just the last short while, this has been going on for Years! Pehaps they got in trouble back there with a derivatives position when gold moved up once and needed this cash to bail themselves out.

Bankers Trust to pay $63.5 million in
fines

NEW YORK, March 11 (Reuters) - Bankers Trust Co. (NYSE:BT -
news) pleaded guilty on Thursday in federal court to three counts of falsifying bank records and agreed
to pay $63.5 million in fines.

The bank admitted that several employees, including a senior managing director and a managing
director, sought to make their performance look better between 1989 and 1996 by recording $19.1
million in unclaimed funds as revenue and reserves.

Under an agreement negotiated with the U.S. Attorney's office, Bankers Trust pleaded guilty in federal
court in Manhattan to three counts of unlawfully falsifying its books.

The bank agreed to pay $60 million to the federal government for misleading customers and federal
regulators. It also agreed to pay the state of New York $3.5 million(cont).>>
