Never tried PPOD, and their service may well be the pits.

homegrocer.com IMO is a great service. Very responsive to comments/complaints, and they've tweaked their web site so ordering is not too time consuming. Nice to take a break from SI and order my milk, eggs and butter.

From what I've heard of the PPOD model, I don't think I'd like the way they handle deliveries. I understnad they set up some sort of rack in your garage, and you have to give them access for to the garage for deliveries.

floydie, in no way am I long PPOD, but I can see why people may like the concept.

Never gone to PPOD, but I imagine that if eventually you can get quick service along with being able to save order profiles, I could see more and more people using something like this. Most of my grocery shopping tends to be the same items so being able to store profiles would be key in getting me to use a service like this. Not sure how much they charge, but the more I think about it, the more I like it, once again assuming 1) quick service 2) reasonable price 3) ability to maintain different "shopping list" profiles. Also, I would imagine that a shopping service like this would be a Godsend to housewives with small children. In the future to gain market share, I could see large supermarkets setting up a service like this as a freebie to gain customers. Sheesh, I better stop now before I convince myself to go long PPOD :^)
