Holiday Inn sounds as good a place to meet Wednesday eve as anyplace else, since no one else has made any other suggestion. There is a very good casual restaurant named Bravo in that immediate area if you decide you would rather try someplace other than a motel. We could discuss this at the motel. We plan to be there by six PM. As it would relate to breakfast Thursday morning, how about Bob Evans restaurant just down the street from the meeting place? We plan to meet at seven AM for breakfast and to strategize for the meeting. Any other suggestions? On another subject matter. I test drove an EV1 again in Scottsdale Arizona last week with a friend who had never driven an electric car. I wanted to see what progress if any they were making. First, the good news. The car performed really great as expected. My friend was "taken back" with its excellent performance. And now the bad news. The EV1 only had eleven miles distance remaining on it when we took it out for a test drive at ten AM, in spite of the fact that we were the first ones to take a test drive that morning. This exact same scenario occurred one other time in the past. Is this a part of their diabolical plot to continue to do whatever within their power to impede the successful introduction of EV's? It's a little uncomfortable taking a car out for a spin on an empty tank. You draw your own conclusions. Along these same lines, I have tried repeatedly to place a future order for the first NiMH GM/EV with the local Saturn dealers each and every year without being able to get the time of day, let alone any possible future introduction dates of EV's in St Louis. I would love to be the first GM/EV owner, or leasee in St Louis. I have called Detroit repeatedly without any success. No one has been able to venture even a wild guess to date. I have asked if I could at least fill out an application for whatever future date EV's become available, even to the point of giving them a deposit to hold my place in line down the road, to no avail what-so-ever. Has anyone else tried to do likewise? Surely someone has an answer. I can't believe I am the only interested party outside of California or Arizona who has made such a request. All I can say is thank God for the need for new, more powerful S/L/I (starter, lights and ignition) systems, heading towards 42 volt systems with the need for more powerful batteries than lead acid. With 56 million vehicles mfg'd last year, this represents a very big-time mega-bucks market for our NiMH batteries, even with the heel-dragging in promoting EV's and EV's by the auto industry. Any comments? By the way, by the time my friend got behind the wheel there were only four miles left on the batteries for his test drive. It really would not have made any difference which type of batteries the car had. But, would you believe lead acid batteries? This is really disgusting at this late date and absolutely no excuse. And yet I will be the first to state that our friend and ally Don Devlin's new batteries should come first, as has been promised to him repeatedly. The Saturn dealer had no idea when the new NiMH batteries would be available. Oh well. Regards.
