What surprises me it the ease with which I was able to assemble the collection of articles with authoritative presentation on this general topic of convergence with emphasis on communications and entertainment.

All of the ranting began only five days ago with last Sunday's article on GIC's DCT-5000x. Further, most of the press copy contained direct quotes from CEO's which implies that the groundwork for the release had to have been done over the last weeks if not months time.

"News", like stocks, has to have some merchandise value, otherwise it will not generally make feature presentation copy. I take this to mean that what I rant and rave about is on the precipice of becoming the "next big thing." Perhaps convergence (emphasis - communications and entertainment) will take on the allure like we see in today's business press and trade journals concerning E-Commerce. Personally, I must admit to getting a little bored with E-Commerce. Believe it or not, I am beginning to take it for granted that I can buy things and do simple transactions business on the Net.

With regard to the laaazy analyst's commentary, I am not at all surprised. There have been a ton of studies following up on the lemming like behavior of financial analyst's and mutual fund manager's usually ascribed to the small scale individual emotional investor. There is opportunity for a lot of band-wagon effect here. Perhaps this is what make a stock price trend.

Last year Ampex filed the 10K 0n 3/16 and the subsequent quarterlies on 5/12 and 8/14. IMO, this leaves plenty of near time opportunity between now and five months into a summer for a sharply upward revaluation by the financial community of Ampex's prospects. If the upcoming 10K does not contain the information needed for this, then the 10Q of May would be be built upon a three month base which is just about right for ending a consolidation period (given Ampex's prior trading price history).
