I thought it was a weak quote, too. Perhaps what I heard was out of context. It wouldn't be my leading punch, blaming the press. I would think the things to focus on would be the gravity of the charges, the importance of academics and academic integrity, the need to keep college sports in perspective. But the reference to the needs of other people is like saying "Shut up we have a basketball game to win here, we can talk about integrity later" Ah, but this is the era of Slick.
