America must appreciate its good fortune, and understand its responsibility, or it will inevitably decay. A great nation must behave with a consciousness of its influence in the world, and this is especially true when there is an opportunity to finally convince the developing world of the benefits of responsible government and markets, and thus to help to stabilize their politics and develop their economies. For those of us who would like the history of mankind to lead to something better than what has so far been experienced, this is a noble prospect. I agree that the emerging technologies have not yet been fully applied or extrapolated, and that there really is a revolution going on. Although I have used the Internet for research in the past, I have only recently bought a new system, and spent a lot of time exploring the Web, and I am increasingly impressed, especially since the time frame has been so compressed. A decade ago, PCs had barely come into widespread use, and had little speed or memory. The Internet was something only serious computer jocks were aware of. Now, we have tremendous capacity and power, the Web is growing by leaps and bounds, everything is amazingly user friendly, and one can foresee the tremendous applications for the future, with marked gains in productivity. Truly a heady time!
