Pfizer's Viagra Drug to Go on Sale March 23 in Japan, NEN Says Bloomberg News March 12, 1999, 1:23 p.m. ET Tokyo, March 13 (Bloomberg) -- Pfizer Inc.'s unit in Japan said Viagra will go on sale in Japan March 23, Nikkei English News reported. The suggested price for the impotence drug ranges from 1,100 yen ($9.25) for a 25mg tablet to 1,300 yen for a 50mg tablet. Prices may vary, though, because Japan's Ministry of Health and Welfare has decided Viagra won't be covered by health insurance, meaning medical institutions can set their own prices for the drug, NEN said.
