Vtel is lying shamelessly to investors. This is their explanation for the botched video demo. Read next post for comments.....

Clarification of Video/Audio Quality and Technology

VTEL appreciates your viewing of our live Webcast demonstration on Wednesday, March 10. We hope you also will access the time-shifted version of the webcast via VTEL's website.

Several of our shareholders and other individuals have called with questions regarding the quality of the video and audio stream. We appreciate their interest and want to ensure that everyone watching understands the technology being used behind the scenes.

VTEL chose to broadcast the interview over the public Internet at 28.8 kilobits per second, a speed that today is the most prevalent modem capacity, and one at which Java-enabled browser users could access our webcast with a like-speed modem.

Could we have improved the quality of the video/audio? ABSOLUTELY. In fact, we have the capability to stream webcasts at 15 megabits per second, or approximately 500 times the speed we deployed. The result of doing so would have been that several viewers would not have been able to access the stream due to the capability of their modems. Many of our customers, however, have private networks with the capacity to stream at much higher speeds and, therefore, can achieve broadcast-like quality webcasts, or better.

The objective of our exercise was to demonstrate that streaming could be accomplished in an open environment without the need to download a media player first. Doubling the speed of the stream to 56 kilobits per second would have substantially improved the quality of the broadcast. Therefore, in order to satisfy a larger audience we will be re-broadcasting the webcast at both 28.8 and 56 kilobits per second.

Thanks for your understanding in this matter. Should you need further clarification of our demonstration please contact our corporate communications or investor relations departments.

Now, that's a load of bullshit if ever I saw one.

Again, Vtel is caught with its pants down and gives a contrived, misleading explanation for its generous incompetence. This amounts to no less than a blatant lie. Management is simply adding insult to the injury already perpetrated on stockholders with their botched demo on the Vosaic technology.

The 'clarification' post which Vtel compiled on their website is management's latest patch-up after having screwed-up royally. Anyone who had logged on to their site before this 'patch-up-our-screw-up' post was presented with 2 choices to view the demo: 128K or 56K modems...nothing was available on 28.8K. Now the option to view their demo is only one; 'up to 56K' (the 'up to' added in repair mode hindsight). In other words, they are using the excuse that they broadcast the demo in 28.8K as a cover to having clearly messed up. This fix is done with absolutely the lowest concern for the stockholder and in absolute offence to our intelligence.

Having bought Vosaic might be a good move, but why 'rush' to this demeaning demo? Could the dodos be feeling the pressure from extremely unhappy stockholders given their dismal performance over the past three years? Or are they going to feed us another lie now? Yea, why don't they just tell us all the stockholders are really happy with this management's performance? Why don't they tell us they are proud of their 'accomplishments' over the past couple of years? why don't they tell us they are looking forward to more of the same for the next couple of years? Why not just simply lie to us again? We can take the new load of bullshit....heck we're used to it by now!

Screw the stockholder!
