As that article pointed out there are stricken people who are desperate and hoping to get a chance at a longer life or they are hoping somehow that someone they treasure is now going to live. So he runs a little personal Pump and Dump and makes a few bucks while raising their hopes. Then the responsible members of the medical community come forward and say "I'm sorry."
