It wouldn't make sense to have a telco buy Axiom - no telco would have any interest in owning a billing mediation system co (it would be like an airline buying an aircraft manufacturer). I'm not even sure any billing system vendors would necessarily benefit from owning AXIM. Nonetheless I was happy to read their annual report - they are finally talking about the opportunity in billing mediation for data and IP in a clear fashion. They have worked with this (with Cisco I think) for a while - but now they seem to be articulating this strategy much better. What with all the industry movement towards ATM SVCs, Sprint ION, IP with varying QoS (charged at different rates), bandwidth on demand, and so on, I think AXIM could be positioned to be a player. Or are my instincts wrong?
