Humbly report, sally, I've been on SI for years, and never heard of that guy 'til this morning, and Scrapps said pretty much the same thing.

Of course that doesn't mean sh!t, given the FACT that I'm a total MORON, but in my book the "firing" is a total non-event. Don't even plan on posting it on the History thread - #subject-18370.

I do NOT mean to say that go2net cannot or should not strive to improve the image it sends out - completely agree with you there.

But what do I know, egg on my face and all!!!

Cheers,

Svejk

Sally, the company most likely had no choice in the timing of this person's travels. The company has only made comment when approached and asked about it. The company has their hands tied by legal constraints in regard to employee privacy. A breach of employee confidentiality is the last thing the company wants or is about to violate. It is highly questionable if this guy was an analyst since he had no training...in my mind it sounds more like the title of Commentator or the like would be more appropriate.

Your concern is the stock price...their's is customer satisfaction. I see nothing they have done that's improper and their only choice is to ride out the storm and not getting sucked into a verbal battle in the media.

A personal comment: I've been here on SI for years now and in my early days came into my first contact with the SI staff and owners via e-mail (before they had private messages), warnings were what the e-mails were really, warnings to follow the rules or get booted...a couple of us got booted, but not first without fair warnings and explanations as to what we were doing improper. Well, there is no doubt in my mind that SI hadn't already gone the extra mile in this guys case before turning him lose.

Note: The first Clubhouse on SI was on the old USRX thread...a place for me and some of the other fine Robots who'd at time get carried away to go play without distracting from the more serious members...they now have the coffee shops for what we were doing.

Regards,

Scrapps

Taulli has a newsletter too (I have been receiving it)... it is pretty popular, I think. He was working with some others on company profiles called "Good Reports"... valuable analysis, though I suppose not the same as Wall Street analysts' analysis. Regardless of the firing, as shoestring 'consultants' go it sounds like Taulli got pretty lucky (all those options!!), but then again, he was good.

Sally, I don't believe that slapping Go2net.com on Evander Holyfield's ass tonight for the fight is considered lack of PR savvy. Quit the opposite in fact. Their PR guy is on fire and this is just the beginning.
