Environmental Digital Services, Inc. Announces Strategic Marketing Alliance

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- James P. Crehan, Sr., Chairman of the Board of Environmental Digital Services, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: EVDS - news; EDSi), a Florida-based publicly traded provider of underground tank monitoring, leak detection, risk management, and environmental contamination remediation products and services, has announced the formation of a strategic alliance with David A. Conway, President & CEO of WaterChef, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: WTER - news). WaterChef, based in Glen Head, New York, is a domestic and international supplier of water purification systems with manufacturing facilities in Havre, Montana, USA, and Tianjin, Peoples Republic of China, and is also a publicly traded company. This agreement provides for the marketing of the WaterChef ''Village Water Center,'' an affordable self-contained water purification facility which provides potable water for local populations of 2,500 to 3,000 persons in developing areas of the world. The WaterChef system has previously been selected by Counterpart International, Washington D.C., for low income housing developments they will build in the Philippines.

EDSi intends to initially market this product throughout Central America and the Caribbean basin along with EDSi's other products and services through existing and yet to be developed business relationships. Toward fulfilling the goals of this strategic alliance, EDSi has been selected to be one of 15 U.S. companies to accompany U.S. Ambassador David Aaron on his Department of Commerce Business Development Mission to Central America March 21-27, 1999. The Department of Commerce has estimated that the region's reconstruction needs due to Hurricane Mitch damages exceeds US$8 (eight) billion, with two major areas of need being: repair of environmental damage and the supply of safe drinking water. EDSi staff will be addressing both these areas of business potential during this mission.

The arrangement with WaterChef Inc, is the first such agreement aimed at enhancing EDSi's market position through the offering of products and services which are both compatible with existing marketing plans, and potentially attractive to the same customer base.
