Solectron mentioned very positively in 8/1 issue of Internet World (page 40) Ken Ouchi Solectron CIO interviewed. Gist of the article is that Solectron has aggressively adapted internet technology. eg. Cisco can get orders from their customers to the factory (SLR) in an hour or less. SLR uses the internet to receive computer-aided-design and bills of material encrypted with Secure Sockets technology. It used to take 10 days to make product prototypes but now due to the net SLR is able to turn prototypes around in 24 hours or less. SLR is also able to link into Cisco's quality control software and thus run their quality control system for them. Presently 10% of business is run thru net but SLR actively pursuing more use of the net.
