I'm the luckiest man alive. Today is MRS. BLUE's and my anniversary of the smartest thing I ever did in my life. The day I married my beautiful Wife.
Anyway one of MRS. BLUE's best girlfriends is the Wife of one of my best friends. So to honor our many years together we are going to go have a "you name it vacation". We can going to any place my Wife wants to go (as long as the fishing is fantastic there).
I like to deep sea fish and the gals like to get suntanned and spend money shopping. These are close friends and my friend is a product manager in a high tech medicine up and coming company. I hired him for one of the big boy computer companies many years ago, I helped him get his start. He took it from there and wow. We go back a long way.
He is one of the funniest guys I know and once loudly said to me in a packed Vail elevator, "I wish I had not had those chilly cheese dogs, I'm full of gas". I almost lost it but kept a straight face as others on the elevator wished the damn thing would go faster. Some people showed clear signs of relief when they got to their floors.
This is a special day March 12th and I thank God for it. I am a truly lucky man, I have a wonderful Wife and relationship, my daughter is beautiful, a good kid and just brought home all A's and B's.
Me I'm doing what I want and not half way around the world doing some business deal for "the company".
No I'm home most nights unless I'm up on the new land or on some wilderness trip. And I'm always here for my Wife if she needs me. I'm a lucky guy and can in part thank the market for letting me do what I want to do.
I'm a lucky guy to be married to who I'm married to.
My GNET didn't do bad today either. 909ers to all, BLUE

RATING CHANGE: AOL is no longer rated an AVOID in the Techride portfolio. Product upgrades are one reason for the change in rating.
A point to remember about AOL is that they are a monster and as more and more broker firms invest in the internet they will do what is "safest", they will put big bucks in TYPE I internets: AOL, YHOO, EBAY, etc... 909 BLUE

Go2Net answers the bell with Evander Holyfield's boxing trunks
Heavyweight championship marks start of Go2Net brand advertising campaign

SEATTLE, March 12, 1999--Go2Net, Inc. (NASDAQ: GNET), a network of branded, technology and community-driven Web sites, announced today that it will display the Internet address of the Go2Net Network (Go2Net.com) on Evander Holyfield's boxing trunks for this Saturday's highly anticipated battle with Lennox Lewis for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world. Set for March 13 in New York City's Madison Square Garden, the bout will attract an estimated worldwide audience of one billion viewers and coincides with
this week's launch of Go2Net's first national brand advertising campaigns.

'Go2Net.com' will be featured on both the front and back of Holyfield's
trunks, ensuring significant visibility for the network's Internet address
during the fight and in subsequent coverage. Go2Net will be the exclusive
sponsor on the trunks. This is part of the first major offline brand
advertising initiative for the Go2Net Network, which has steadily risen into
the Internet's Top 25 destinations (#23, January 1999 Media Metrix) by
offering some of the Internet's most popular sites in the areas of personal
finance, search, ecommerce and online games.

"Being in an exceptionally competitive sector like the Internet, Go2Net felt
that it was critical to break new ground by taking a daring, offline
approach to the promotion of an Internet brand," said Russell C. Horowitz, Go2Net CEO. "The Holyfield-Lewis bout is among the year's most anticipated sporting events, and we believe it represents an exceptionally cost-effective way to introduce the Go2Net brand to hundreds of millions of consumers."

"We believe that a significant percentage of those watching the fight and who have Internet access will have their curiosity piqued to visit the Go2Net Network," Horowitz continued. "And our experience has shown that those who try the Go2Net Network tend to enjoy their experience, return often and tell others about Go2Net."

Developed in concert with the Seattle-based Hadley Green advertising agency, Go2Net's advertising campaign features strong emphasis on the Go2Net Network and the Go2Net brand, all under the tagline of What's Next. Its first creative campaign, When You're Done Surfing, debuted Wednesday, March 10 in USA Today. The program will grow to include strategic national business, trade and consumer media buys, market-specific focuses in major U.S. cities and a variety of online advertising programs.

"It sometimes takes Internet users a while to surf around before they can truly appreciate the differential benefits the Go2Net Network offers," said Dick Hadley, president of Hadley Green Advertising. "We've developed a very memorable program to let people know that when they're done surfing and ready to have the most efficient, productive and satisfying experience, Go2Net is the place to be."

Terms of the Holyfield agreement were not disclosed.

Joan, Where are you? Did that sweet sixteen party for your daughter take all your typing energy? This is going to be a fun week so let's get ready. 10,000 here we come.
Things to move the market this week: Retail sales (which should be great), Housing starts and permits (which should be excellent) and the CPI ( which also should be good). If that is not enough to move the market, we can count on our internets.
This is internet IPO week, four of them. One of these is expected to be very hot. Here is the line up.

Flashnet Communications FLAS
iVillage IVIL (watch this one)

RE: GNET If people are going to spend all this money on IPOs seems some rational people would rather bet on a proven internet company who has a CEO that has already told you his company will beat earnings. Compare GNET's 100 day chart to whoever you like. If you are going to own an internet GNET may be the place to start.
RE: The Holyfield/Lewis fight. I've searched all over the web in search of a man's trunks, I am not proud to say. Seems silly now looking all over the internet to find a man's trunks but I wanted to see the GNET advertising. Fat chance, most shots are upper body and to be honest the best coverage of the bout was on the BBC web site.
I hope GNET has cut a rematch deal already and they contrast any color of trunks in the future. The fight may have been ruled a draw but there were two winners. GNET won and since this is America, Don King won. This has rematch all over it, let's just hope GNET is in on it. 909ers to all BLUE
