I agree. When I trade while I'm working full time I am semi successful but when I have time off of work I do GREAT. I always take my computer with me on vacation and make the first day a trading day. Last two vacations 1 day profit $1000 and $9500. It makes the rest of vacation better.

I think you need to be on the computer(s) at home to be a "daytrader"

I think you can do awesome part time as a POSITION trader. I started my dad's portfolio on 2/18/99 and its up over 150% in 7 weeks... but that is with being VERY aggressive and with option trading... not much common stock trading. And almost all internet stocks which have had a good run the past 3 weeks. That is on roughly 6-12 trades a week only. I think a daytrader would do that many trades a DAY.

Plus he has a bigger portfolio than me so more risks can be taken :) Hence, more rewards in a good market (and more potential losses in a bad market)

But daytrading is a whole different animal and requires you to be watching full time.... plus its a lot more stressful in my mind ... also it is alot about who has better technology ... faster access to news, rumors, and QUICKEST executions... some of these internet stocks move literally 5-10% within seconds of a big news annoucnement, and those with the faster access, execution, computers can get in just a few seconds earlier and it pays off. Plus drops are huge on these sort of daytrades (especially the penny stocks, low float stocks, 4th tier internet stocks) and its a big rush to the exit by many people at the same time when the momentum dies (hours later?), leaving someone holding the bag.

Can be profitable, but also can lose a lot quickly daytrading in my opinion.
