Groceries Versus Books, Macro vs. Micro:

1) Woman like to see and touch things and women buy much more groceries than men. Produce and Fresh food spoils pretty quickly. A lot of buying is impulse buying. Groceries are not books. Also, delivery works in some places (cities) better than others. Thus, some caveats to the who convenience thing.
2) Software is a good business too. Doesn't mean every software company will have consistent long-term market-beating returns. Management, capital structure and other company-specific factors important too. Thus, even if online groceries (or advertizing, or tech, or etc, whatever Peapod's business is/will become) is a good business, company-specific factors can propel and entangle the best ideas.
Persoanl note: Used Peapod a few times. Liked it. But if I had time to have it delivered then I had time to go get it and for some reason or another, despite being an online junkie I always find myself at the foodstore...
