Your car sounds familiar. The guys I work with are ammussed at my old '85 pontiac. It's a classic. No headliner, a little rust, you get the idea. Hey, I paid 500 bucks for it and been driving it forever. I hope to someday find them broke down on the side of the road and needing a lift. I'll be happy to give them a ride in my "fishing car".
