everyonne down graded orcl except PRU !!! stock can only go up from here..! Merrill Lynch said it had cut its rating on ORACLE CORP to
intermediate accumulate from intermediate buy, while keeping its
long-term buy rating for the database software company. Further
details were not immediately available. Late Thursday, the company
reported a 36% earnings gain in its fiscal 3Q, compared with the
same period a year ago. Analysts were nevertheless concerned about
weaker-than-expected revenue growth. (Reuters 09:45 AM ET

* Warburg Dillon Read and NationsBanc Montgomery Securities cut
their ratings on the shares of ORACLE CORP to hold from buy.
Warburg analyst Andrew Roskill said the results were below
expectations with respect to growth rates for both total revenue
and software license revenue. (Reuters 11:43 AM ET 03/12/99)

* The shares of ORACLE CORP plunged after the No. 1 maker of
database software suffered severe weakness in many of its core
markets in its fiscal 3Q, which it reported after the close of
trading on Thursday. But, analysts said, results in two of
Oracle's main businesses, database and applications software, were
weaker than analysts and investors were expecting. "A lot of
people had much higher expectations and they (Oracle) failed to
deliver," said Gary Abbott, an analyst at Punk, Ziegel & Co. "It
was an uninspiring quarter." At least three brokerage firms
downgraded Oracle shares in the wake of the earnings report.
