Per your request, I just did. It seems this babe is ready for a breakout to 40.

Rex and Thread,

I lied.

I looked at the Friday close for SanDisk this weekend.
I am definitely not disappointed!!!

I have been looking quite hard at the handheld/palmtop/PDA devices using Window CE and Palm OS. The "niche" that 3COM has carved out is unbelievable given (IMHO) the limited functionality of the Palm series. The Palm III, V and VII have all snubbed their noses to removable memory. There just isn't a need for acres and acres of storage. Also, the Palm VII will be using some type of SMS system for web pages and e-mail function that reduces the data to small "clippings". The 1999 version of a ticker tape machine in my opinion.

I think that more advanced users will gravitate toward Windows CE 2.11 devices with more functionality. I am attracted to offerings such as the Vadem Clio, the NEC Mobilepro 770 and the LG Phenom Ultra. If anybody out there owns one I would be happy to hear about their "driving" experience. (Please send me a personal message!) I would like to have a portable device for e-mail, web browsing and photographic applications (Sierra has a Windows CE version of their photo editing software), in addition to basic word processing and Powerpoint capability. I am also interested in foreign language translation software.

I tried the Clio out yesterday. The design is "space age" and quite appealing. The sales guy said he can't keep them in the store.
I plugged my SanDisk 48 MB CF card into the PCMCIA bay and looked at pictures I took on the way over to the store. They are actually quite nice. I am interested in the Mobilepro 770 because it offers 64k color, although the screen is only 640 x 240.

I am really excited about these toys. I think there is a definite demand for them and they will likely replace laptops as "carry on luggage". I can't wait.
