I guess I am suggesting that balanced sentiment can be an aid to understanding, but it is hard to maintain, because of its ambivalence. Simple, direct emotion is much more satisfactory. But also, a lack of life experience can be a barrier to understanding. Having to be responsible, having to face dilemmas, having to guess at the future and act in the present, these are all things that life teaches hard lessons about, if we are in a position to learn them.

I notice that with all of you , none had anything to say about this ---Hmmmmmmm,, Why is that?? and this is just one tiny example, but it is quite amazing how all of you are quite ready to skip over this ...IMHO,, you find it's face too ugly...Because you turn away, in no way alters it's validity....

Ron,,, You write well,, however the revisionism is for example the Guatamalan thing-- which for sure doesn't read like it did 30 years ago......
