Analysts were simply responding to the cues from Ellison.

It wasn't just the sell side guys who were bullish. It was also the buy-side. Are you suggesting those buy-side analysts were biased in some way?

Anyway, what difference does it make in the end? Without the "positive perceptions" the stock would have never run up in the first place. Now the stock is back to a reasonable valuation and we will see how the company does in the next few quarters. A couple of good quarters will put the stock near $35 again.
