The Korean economy last I looked was only about one-tenth the size of Japan's economy. Exports of semiconductors account for about 4% of total Japanese exports of which much less than half was memory related. Exports account for about 10% of the Japanese economy (equivalent to the entire output of the Korean economy). So if you do the math, then DRAM production would only account for about 0.2% of the total Japanese economy. Nowhere near big enough to impact the Japanese economy or the ¥/$ rate. The exact numbers can be debated but you get the picture.
