This test was FAR harder than some of you thought. Number 7 was the second most missed question, tripping up 71 percent of the class. It was OBVIOUS that 2.40 was 4 times .60. . . but when you converted your answer to a percentage you forgot to think it through. The answer was 300 percent, which is 4 times as much.

Likewise on number 5, was 3 times as much or 200 percent.

Then number 9 knocked many out, because the BEST answer was the PERCENTAGE difference between the first and second books. So the first answer to number 9 was the SECOND BOOK. . . but the second answer to number 9 was 122.22 percent [or thereabouts].

This is how the percentage difference the second book made over the first book.

Are you with me?

Number 5 Gains of "3 times as much" = 200 percent [not 300 pct]

If a third as much = 33.3% or .333x then
3 times as much = 300% or 3.0x -right?

Number 7 Gains of "4X as much" = 300 percent [not 400 pct.]
same here, only use 1/4 or 4x 4 times as much means a factor of 4 which when represented in percent is 400%
