Technology has affected the price of gold exploration as well.

And the only reason that their isn't a gold glut is because the CB hold 14 years worth of gold production under their control.

Can you imagine how the oil market would be impacted were some agency to have 14 years worth of oil production stuffed in salt mines somewhere with the only thing preventing them from selling it is the fear of destroying the oil drilling sector??

Oil is a perishable commodity. When it is used it is destroyed. Gold never disappears and only more of it can be found and accumulated.

3D and 4D imaging of permeable rock strata have done wonders for oil exploration. So well that we now have far more reserves than anyone previously imagines ever existed.

I believe the same with occur with gold. And goldbugs will continue their efforts to find some use for all of it, like trying to get the CBs to back their currency with it.
