I still opine that whether China devalues or not is strictly a symbolic gesture, intended to deliver a message to the world and her own citizens.

Zhu Rongji outlined some of the obstacles at the NPC this year. I don't think a devaluation would be the answer. The risk of setting off another round of devaluation of other Asian currencies is to no one's benefit. What needs to be achieved is increased competitiveness without being too obvious. If you have the answers, just send them to China via one of the many spies in the network here.<g>
