DOW 10000 was a given when it closed at 9643 on 1-8-99.

btw, can anyone actually listen to Ralph Acampora's prognostications anymore without breaking out in uncontrollable laughter?

Well. Great story. But a crash is a crash because nobody expects it. We (sorry, You) had a great economy in autumn 1997. There are lot of wise guys around but ... "total recall". I agree with you that economy is OK. I'm long-term bull. But I bet on the near term bear cycle. Very little cycle involving DOW (CATERPILLAR said : "welcome to reality, guys"). But if DOW goes down almost all big names will follow. There are plenty of room to come down. There is one problem - to find a catalyst for that cycle. We should wait only.
P.S. My soul is OK. It was tempered in battles on US stock market. I have paid my ticket.
