Ron, I would like to know how Ed Yardeni lowered his forecast so much. Could he have "had a talking to"? Just a thought. I'm not sure. And that's the problem. Yardeni has been pretty straightforward on the issue and I have to believe that he wants to maintain some sense of credibility. 45% chance of recession is still substantial though. Regards, Ron

Gary announced our own Portland's OR mayor, Vera Katz, press conference announcement of her "block party mobilization for Y2K prep" on late Friday, the same day Gary was on Art's Radio Show. COME MONDAY MORNING HERE IN Portland, a very subdued wouldn't look the camera in the eye Vera Katz announced that no such block by block organization would now be taking place and GAVE NO REASON WHATSOEVER! Ed Yardeni's very same back-peddling started that very morning and I posted his change of tune HERE on the GPM thread or the Dutch CB thread of Bill's. You have to remember, the US ARMY Ft Dix base and FEMA are now in charge of our lives, not you and me anymore, and certainly not the utterances of our state and local elected leadership! REMEMBER THIS ONE FACT as you contemplate the above didactic utterances I'm making of collusion and delusion by the Yardenis and the Katz of this nation... THIS CITY OF OVER 1.5 MILLION PEOPLE, a major coastal west coast port, was one of the first 12, yes, one of the *FIRST TWELVE* that the army conducted their "domestic preparedness" 19 hour intensive for here LAST April 8/9th. Gary North was singing Vera's praises from the highest heavens on Arts show for being and I quote "the first example of leadership in one of America's major cities to address Y2K preparedness." BTW, Did you catch Paul Harvey at Noon today via radio? Harvey said an FBI AGENT, called him by name, testified in court, TOOOOOOOday (I presume it is the McDuggal trial in Arkansas) and HELD UP FOR THE COURT (and the world?) TO SEE, the EXACT same cancelled cashier's check, made out to Bill Clinton for a huge chunk of change to participate in the Whitewater Real Estate which Bill received and cashed while he was Gov of AR! Paul pointed out this is another one of Clinton's sworn deposition lies. How many times can a jerk-off "head" of this nation lie and live?
