El: I agree with you about CPQ's failure to make a statement.

Their argument may be technically correct, that they did not have any material information different from what they had already said about being comfortable with analysts' expectations.

Their other argument, that an announcement might further confuse matters, in so far as they cannot state categorically what the situation is until March sales are known, has merit. But given the volatile history of the stock in the last 18 months, they should have had a contingency plan ready for this kind of situation and it should have included the intent and means to issue swift clarification to all shareholders and to the market.

This is an issue that should be communicated to the Chairman and brought up at the AGM.

This 100 days chart of CPQ DELL GTW HWP AAPL IBM shows that apart from AAPL, which is in a category of its own, CPQ is worse than the others, but not by much. Hopefully, the others will not converge on CPQ but CPQ wll now converge on their mean, where it has usually been over the last three or more years.

This 20 month chart, shows that CPQ has a lot of catching up to do to converge with the others.

This 40 month chart shows how DELL and AAPL are not average and CPQ is.
