Gary is on point here....

There is no fundamental reason for institutions to "finally" commit to Rambus until the retail investors have been shaken out, by which I mean that every little bit of short term news (or rumor) causes an exodus. I don't mean that critically; everyone is entitled to take their profits when and how they see fit. But, the marketmakers are sitting back and playing the action to their, not anybody else's, benefit. When Rambus retail investors signal (by not panicing at some future non-event -like June earnings) that they are really on board for the run up, the price will solidify and the buyers will only be able to enter on continued strength, which will build a higher and higher floor. Then product news will be fast and furious, prompting more involvement by everyone. Of course, this whole sceanario might not take place until early 2000 even, but it will happen. Until then, volatility rules.
