Yousef,

RE: "I actually know some of the people that went to the old DEC Fab to turn
on Intel's .25um process ... Installing equipment. So Intel was planning
to do much more than just run the StrongArm processor there.
"

That's nice.

But the point is Intel doesn't really want an AMD fab, everything gets scrapped, including the chip in current production. Might as well just buy an empty warehouse.

The DEC deal was good since Intel "didn't" have to do anything to keep the thing going. They choose to update a few pieces here and there, AMD's fab(s) produce a product Intel would cancel, thus an idle fab - what a waste of money and time that would be.

Anyway it's a total waste of time to pursue this line of thinking "Intel buying an AMD fab", now that's funny!!!

It Is So,

Eric

Of course. If you get stuck with a fab you don't want as a result of ending up on the losing side of litigation, you might as well make some use out of it.
