Beowulf is intense and as such is intensely difficult to set up. The Beowulf cluster achieved like third highest total MIPS using 40 old low cost Alpha's. On the subject of clustering, I am still stumped as to the reason Novell demonstrated a fantastic clustering tech 3 years ago at Brainshare and then came out with this stubby version that supports only failover.
