Hi Mike:

Thanks for the II link. For the sake of accuracy, I should
point however that II has had a rather dismal record
in picking tech stocks during the last 2 years. The
worst was their special on satellite stocks in June (?)
98, when it was recommending LOR, VSAT, and TRMB, all of
which got decimated afterwards. It also had QCOM in its Magic 25
throughout 98, while it went down. This year, it decided
to leave it off the list, and guess what? It has been
iutperforming most of II's Magic stocks of 99!

Actually, the consolidation theme will probably play itself
out throughout 99 in the telecom/networking sector. There
are lots of small to midsize companies which face a merge
or die imperative (AFCI, CIEN, FORE, HLIT, ORTL ...),
and there are lots of big European telcos (ALA, ERICY,
NOKA, Siemens) which are afraid of being left behind in broadband
technologies.

Best regards,

Bernard Levy

Yes I have seen this Phil, and I have decided to play PAIR as an option play,I bought 30 July15 contracts at 3/8 about a week ago as the consensus opinion seems to be that PAIR would go for about 20 dollars at least---I think it is a very conservative way to play this, but the payoff would be substantial.
And I have just been picking up a drift that PAIR has been really makng excellent strides in ADSL.But I think the "running out of time factor"
might force PAIR to go the takeover route--a lot depends on the new CEO--I have come to believe PairGain, after being a pioneer and then falling back has regrouped and is now a genuinely valuable company based alone on their tech. Good Luck,Max
