That echoes what I thought when I read that a physicist had been fired for spying. I couldn't understand it at all: if there is real evidence that he was spying, arrest him and try him. If there is not enough evidence to do that, keep the suspicion very quiet and watch him very carefully until you have evidence, or until you don't.

The whole thing seems to have been badly mishandled.

Sorry to temporarily change the subject, but I thought Zeev would get a kick out of this. Here's a look at those Japanese spending coupons he suggested (first person to do so as far as I know) they issue to stimulate their economy.

Kind of reminds me of play money. Maybe it was done deliberately <G>. We've been waiting a long time for them. Well here is what they look like:
