Nortel Networks will use Broadcom Corp.'s very high-speed digital subscriber line
technology in its Universal Edge 9000-based VDSL broadband access network.

The Universal Edge 9000 is an integrated, high-speed multimedia solution for central office, digital loop carrier and fiber-to-the-node deployments. The VDSL
service offering delivers digital television, high-speed Internet access, videoconferencing and multiple IP data business services over existing telephone lines.

Bell Atlantic also said they were filing for a lower tariff in answer to the question of how AOL would be able to offer $42 a month DSL but they did not say how much it would cost AOL or how many lines they would have to commit to. I assume AOL must have a pretty good idea since they are talking $42.

Did US West mention a number?
