El: I don't agree either that by CPQ coming out with a clarifying statement about EM's comments would only have served to confuse matters; not if they would have laid it on the table exactly how things really are. Had they come out and said something along the lines "yes, sales for January and early February have been sluggish. However, sales have since picked up and, if they continue at a good pace in March, we still expect to meet estimates for the quarter. If not, [guide the Street accordingly]." There is a channel problem? Say it! Naive on my part to think that this may have prevented the stock from falling this far? Perhaps! However, even if it would have, at least today we would have a bit more credibility, two less lawsuits filed against (more to come?) and, more importantly, we would not all be here scratching our heads wondering where the hell 40% of our value (and could more come Monday from the looks of it) went in such a short time and why. I, for one, would not think for a second to surrender a few more points just to have an idea of what exactly is going on!

El, I've come to the conclusion, quite easily, that CPQ doesn't really care about the state of mind of the investors. They are running the company the way they believe it should be run, right or wrong, and the day to day gyrations of the company's stock price is as far from their minds as it could be. Let's just hope that when the dust all settles CPQ will still be standing! We don't count at all, period! Just my 2 cents worth! Howie
