Don't need disclaimers, SJS. Long-time options player. Had a tough time with the LEAP calls on Friday. Fast market, big spreads, CMGI all over the place. Took about four limit orders to get filled. Don't normally bother with theoreticals for the reason you cite, just eyeball the premiums and spreads. Your put strategy's shorter than mine. I'd tend to go out say, 3-4 months on a put play like CMGI. Key is to create options portfolio diversity and balance. Have that down, but it takes patience and discipline. What do you mean by "downside protection?" A hedged position? BAM
