Hello Steve,

I absolutely enjoy InternetNews.com and your twice-daily columns.

Would like your thoughts on foreign ISPs, i.e. Pacific Internet.

Too early for analysis?

Best regards,
Paul

Network Solutions - NSOL :

1) your opiinion at current price range;

2) your opinion regarding the intermediate and longer term impact of opening up domain registristration arena to other competitors ? Do you see NSOLmaintaining its dominant position and high growth rate ? ? Prospects for NSOL extending revenue base into other service areas.

3) any thoughts about propective companies who may seek to compete in this arena ?

4) Happily I'm in this stock in the low 30's since last Oct. Low basis has restrained me from selling because of taxes etc. but at high altitude of 200+ prices, I wonder. My inclination is to just sit and hold.

A great pleasure and treat having the opportunity to "speak" with you on this thread. I'm a long-time reader and since January, a subscriber to your monthly newsletter -- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ALL INTERNET INVESTORS !!!

Thanks again and keep up the good work --

George Martin

>>>i think if intuit wants to play in this arena it should just acquire the other 80.1%<<<

How much do you think Intuit would have to pay to buy CheckFree?

Do you think CheckFree is a takeover target since it is positioned pretty well (i.e., the undisputed leader) in the emerging EBPP market?

Do you think EBPP is a killer app?

pardon my soapbox,
can't we just do a stock swap,
the governments 100 percent share
of the irs,
in a stock swap deal for intuit,
just put all the tax stuff online,
by Y2K,
turn Y2K in to a positive,
make it the seed
of the equivalent benefit,
fire all the IRS workers,
just do it, man,
what the heck are those mor*m*ons in utah,
waiting for,
can't they just fire everyone,
shut down the buildings,
and let intuit,
or intuit-equivalent take over,
we don't need no stinkin IRS,
we don't need em,
they are waisting <sic> everyone's money,
everyone would be bettter off,
and no one would be worse off...

Steve:
Do you have any thoughts on PROG, Programmers Paradise. They are historically a catalog retailer selling to the software developer community, but are moving aggressively to the internet. They had sales last year of $238 million, internet sales are increasing at triple digits.
Their most recent move seems to be to become a home on the internet for the professional developer community. Check out their newest website at programmersdirectory.com

Over half of their sales are from europe.
They are profitable and currently have a PE of about 18 based on last year.
They are currently priced around 12, and expect to earn $.85 this year, giving them a current PE of 14.
One last thing. Their current market cap is around $50 million

Steve - Any thoughts on Finet Holdings (FNHC)? On Friday, Warburg Dillon Read LLC initiated coverage with a buy rating:

"We are initiating coverage of FiNet Holdings with a Buy recommendation and a 12-month price target of $5. FiNet is a little known mortgage broker and banker that is competing in the explosive on-line mortgage origination channel. Today, through its suite of services, products, and web sites, FiNet offers virtually every service offered by high profile competitors and, in our opinion, much more. Looking to the future of internet mortgage banking, we also think FiNet has a well thought-out winning strategy".

Have you looked at the on-line mortgage business?

STEVE - INKT - re: inktomi shopping engine

as per newswire today - excerpt: "Fifteen portals and over 300 leading online merchants have signed agreements to work with Inktomi on the buildout of its powerful commerce services."

HOW WILL THIS ecommerce model differ from what is currently in place for the portals and etailers?

currently, etailers pay portals to be linked on the portal - is everybody just going to pay INKT now - what do you think?

are the portals going to be the losers here?

do you think AMZN will go into this? i don't think so
