Hi! I'm a big MSFT bull - I trade it all the time, and I also have it in my long-term portfolio (see my profile :)

I appreciate the generally bullish sentiment, with the split coming up, IE 5.0, reorg, etc.

I'm a little bit more careful - I sold my trading position Friday at 162 5/16. I think it may gap up Monday, but I'm not taking any chances. I guess I see the scenario as a little less bullish in the short term - there are just too many clouds gathering, and the press seems relentlessly negative.

Just look at the kind of haphazzard reporting from NY Times:

"The market stumbled after Oracle and Microsoft warned of disappointing sales and Caterpillar said its profits were suffering."

nytimes.com

This seems a bit sloppy.

I sure hope MSFT takes off, but I'm cautious. I bought a big stake (156 1/4 on Mar 08) in anticipation of the split run up, but sold it Friday. It just seems the market is too jittery, and the publicity negative and sloppy. If I'm wrong, I'll have to buy in at a higher price, but we'll see.

As to individuals like ToySoldier - he has the right to express his opinions. A critic is your friend - he keeps you honest. My one gripe would be: if he has been badly wrong on the price movement in the past (and on many occassions), then if he wants to retain credibility, it would be best for him to refrain from making price predictions (since those are worthless if you have a bad track record), and stick to substantive arguments (not having followed this board for too long, I don't know what his record is).

Monday should be interesting! Good luck to all!
