Dell had the guts to take on the industry and succeed,'' says Eckhard
Pfeiffer, Canion's replacement as CEO of Compaq. ''But you can't sit on your
laurels. You must keep moving forward, and I think that is where Michael Dell is
falling down.''

Dell calls Pfeiffer's assessment ''total nonsense.'' His performance, he says, can be judged by the success of the company. ''I think the company's report card is
pretty good.''

Hard to believe that Pfeiffer was capable of saying anything
positive about Dell, even if it was part of a sentence with
misrepresentations and FUD.

from a very interesting article on Dell in March 1993... interesting
in particular because then as now, there appear to have been a
lot of naysayers and doubts about Dell and his ability to execute..
