Blankmind, The bottom line effect is not the only thing to consider for valueing the company down the road. It is like Bill Gates said earlier, MSFT may or not be here 20 years from now but Coca-Cola will be around. If MSFT make its position a little more secure, it helps support a high PE---which is not just determined by the growth rate. IMO.

I think you are underestimating Navigator a little.... personally I prefer it as does almost everyone I know. The only reason IE was accepted initially was due to msft bullying the boxmakers into positioning IE prominently on the desktop and dropping Navigator, I believe anyway. There was quite a wail at Dell when one weekend everybody came in and Navigator was pulled. Now that msft is crippled a little from the DOJ, Cpq at least has put Netscape back (and personally I think there is so much bad blood between cpq and msft on this issue that cpq would like to drop IE, or include it but not on the desktop - where the user would have to create a shortcut or something).

Anyway I like msft and especially their enterprise products but browser choice has a lot to do with the boxmakers and where their allegiance lies. The browser that wins will probably be the first one the customer uses as he removes his new computer from the box.
