I don't have details at my finger tips...but I think that checking the costs of installing T-1 might be in order here.

The Bells have their work cut out for themselves. The cost
of connecting an office building with wireless point to multipoint
equipment will be $4k/building. It does not take many T1s per building
to come in way below the cost of HDSL T1 delivery by the Bells
(if I remember correctly the installation cost still comes in
at about $1K). Furthermore, broadband wireless companies
will be able to offer BW on demand (i.e., the data rates they
will soon be able to offer stretch all the way from 1Mb/sec
to more than 50 MB/sec).

<< What will prevent the Bells from dropping the price on the T-1 below the fixed wireless operators' and thus undercut them once the WCII/TGNT/NXLK finish their laborious and costly buildout? >>

T1's as cash-cows for the RBOCs. They won't give up those dollars lightly.

It's not just T1's. FBBW using P-MP can enable much higher transfer rates that would otherwise require fiber to the premises. The vast majority of office buildings don't have fiber coming in. FBBW can beat T1's on bandwidth and price and can beat fiber cost and speed of buildout.

I didn't mean to chew up so much of this thread on ARTT and FBBW. Interested parties should read the ARTT and esp. the WCII threads here on SI for the gory details.
