Hi Mark,

I can't believe you guys don't like the "little yellow guy". I use Instant Message every day. It is so much easier than using email. I think it's the best thing since sliced bread. :-) Maybe some people don't know they can use Instant Message even though they don't have an AOL account. You can use it with IE or Netscape. I hate to send a email and wait until the next day for a response. If I see a friend online, I just start a conversation right then. I have 50 people on my Buddy List. If you know a friend that isn't on AOL and you want to have him join IM, all you have to do is send him an invite.

How do the rest of you feel about Instant Message and why do some of you want to delete the program?

I am finally dumping my updated 486 and seriously contemplating purchase of a HP 8490. I know little about the Re-Write CD that it contains and was wondering if anyone has first hand experience with this new wrinkle, and if it has advantages over the Zip Drive, for backup, other than capacity. Have read most of the propaganda, but would appreciate some real user experiences. Also the DVD sounds neat, but I don't really want to watch movies on my computer--any thoughts on that?

This Thread is really a great educational source and my sincere thanks to the Dawg for his inspiration, and to all the experts who lend a hand here.
